Isaac Hayes R.I.P
Soul legend Isaac Hayes passed away on Sunday August 10, 2008 at the age of 65, ten days short of his 66th birthday. Hayes' influence on the music world was unparalleled as a songwriter, producer, and singer. Best known for the Theme to 1971 blaxploitation flick Shaft, Hayes' influence on the hip-hop world was rivalled only by James Brown and Parliament/Funkadelic, as his songs were sampled hundreds of times by artists such as Wu Tang Clan, 2Pac, Biz Markie, Pete Rock and Public Enemy among many more. The man has left an indelible impression on music, and his legacy will live on. R.I.P Isaac Hayes.
